Marine artist and sculptor Chris Barela spent his formative years in southern California, surfing Hermosa Beach. After ascending to the pinnacle of success in the world of competitive professional surfing in the 1980s. Chris continued to maintain his ocean connection, enjoying the surf and sand near his home and studio, located on the big Island of Hawaii.
This connection inspired him to create his first line of bronze sculptures an amazingly life like collection if big game fish. Barela was an instrumental artist in helping to develop the brilliant finish known today as a patina and its now widely used internationally.
